Description

The Trade Marketer is responsible for developing and implementing specific point-of-sale marketing strategies to increase product visibility and boost sales. They work closely with sales teams and distributors to optimize product presence in the field and improve in-store performance.

Main tasks

  1. Develop and implement in-store promotion and merchandising strategies (product showcasing, pirate or negotiated promotions, shelf headers, etc.).
  2. Analyze product performance and adjust marketing actions according to results.
  3. Negotiate and collaborate with distributors to optimize in-store promotions and events.
  4. Monitor trade marketing budgets and ensure profitability.
  5. Train distributors' sales teams on products and sales techniques.

Training

  • Bac +4/5 in Marketing, Business or Management (Master's degree in Marketing, business school, etc.).
  • Specializations in operational marketing or sales strategy are often an asset.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, campaign management software, CRM).

Experience

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in operational marketing or trade marketing, ideally in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment or in a specific sector (e.g. electronics, beauty products, etc.).
  • Successful experience in project management and working with distributors is highly recommended.

Career prospects

  • After several years' experience, the Trade Marketer can progress to Trade Marketing Manager, Product Manager or Sales Manager.
  • They can also take on more senior roles in marketing strategy or customer relations (Key Account Manager, Trade Marketing Director, etc.).

Compensation

  • Gross annual remuneration is generally between 35,000 and 50,000 euros, depending on experience, company size and location.
  • Performance bonuses and other benefits (luncheon vouchers, company car, bonuses, etc.) may be added to the remuneration package.

Working environment

  • Mainly office-based work, but frequent travel to distributors and sales outlets.
  • Dynamic environment, often in consumer goods companies, with regular contact with sales teams, distributors and customers.
