Description

The Supermarket Merchandiser is responsible for the presentation and placement of products at the point of sale. By making products more visible, attractive and easily accessible to consumers, they boost sales and improve the customer experience.

Main tasks

  1. Layout and relocation: strategically arrange products according to the planogram.
  2. Performance analysis: Monitor key performance indicators (sales, inventory, turnover). In case of underperformance, propose corrective actions.
  3. Staff training: Train store teams in product features and benefits, as well as sales advice techniques.
  4. Space negotiation: Work with store managers and department heads to obtain the best shelf space.
  5. Highlighting promotions: Install POS (point-of-sale advertising) to promote products.
  6. Reporting: Provide regular reports on the effectiveness of implementations and opportunities for improvement.

Training

A degree in marketing, business or management is often required. Specialized training in merchandising is also highly valued.

Experience

Compensation

The salary of a GMS Merchandiser varies according to experience and region, but is generally between €25,000 and €40,000 gross per year.
